Thirteen year old Jayme Ryan is an identacle twin. He has a normal suburban life, except for one part; he knows about the Creatues. They come down to earth in a bolt of lightning. On a school day a week before halloween there is a horrible thunder storm and a Creatue comes and murder's Jayme's class including his twin.  Before it left; the Creatue put a mark on Jayme so that it could find him again. And when the Creature does, Jayme's life will be taken far and wide- to a society he doens't understand. To Creatures going bump in the night. To love that will cause him pain and confusion. To a past he had run from. To a descion, which will cost him his heart.
