The other day I was thinking about who I think would make the perfect Macon and I narrowed it down to 2 choices. Johnny Depp and Rober Downey Jr. Which one would make the better Macon?

I made a post of my choices for Macon.
Between your two choices, I'd say Robert Downey Jr.

Johnny Depp would be better

Just to be logical here though, Johnny Depp is one of the highest payed actors around, and Robert Downey Jr. is a big A-lister. So probably, the chances of them being in Beautiful Creatures are slim, but I do think they would be a good Macon though.

They are both great actors but I think visual Robert Downey Jr. Is more of what I pictured then again some of the roles Johnny Depp has pulled off are all different yet he fits them all so hmmm thats actually a really tough question but yeah I'm gonna stick with Robert Downey Jr.

As it is, the casting shows that they have no real vision toward following the trajectory of the book. Ethan's mom and dad were around the same age as Macon. Though since Ethans's mom died she stopped aging. There is no real need to use A list actors if the script is solidly in touch with the books, the story will carry through. If they junk the story the A listers will not be enough to make the movie a success.
