Movie casting concern/Beautiful Chaos stuff

Im never really on here (partially cause no one really talks to me lol) but, I wanted to talk about a few things...Since no one I know actually reads these books...Sadly.First thing is about Beautiful Chaos. I got it when it first came out and up unitl recently didnt really read it much.I always got distracted by other things.Well i  recently started reading it and getting into it again.I stopped near the end because Im not sure I want to finish it yet lol Im not much a reader and as if by sudden luck I came across this series and got really into it.Basically, i just wish the new one was out so i could continue on with the series :)

The second thing I want to talk about is the movie. Im REALLY excited for it. Ive talked about it alot and since no one i know reads it they all think im just stupid lol But, My concern with the movie is the cast. I would never be able to choose people to play the characters in this book.I never really imagined anyone in particular...But im afraid that when I go to see it in the theatre that i may be alittle dissapointed with the way the cast portrays the characters...I guess no one will ever fit the image of them thats in my head in  real life lol But im sure that happenes alot to people when their novels turn into movies.Im sure that in the end though it will be a fantastic movie...and many other ones after it. Does anyone else feel this way? Just curious.

hey!i am on really rarely too and neither my friends have read the books so i just bubble about it in forums xd i felt the same way when i bought the book cause at first i had exams so no time to read it and then i knew that i couldn't let it down as always so i started reading it slowly!:p can't wait for the movie too...but iam SO disappointed with the casting of Ethan ,it's what you said ...it's almost impossible to fit what we have imagined !but i'm ok with the rest of the cast :-)

i cant wait for the next book too ,the end of beauiful chaos killed me , its like hard to accept or something

I first started reading Beautiful Creatures when My 16 yo son was reading for the "Battle of the books" competition. As a 50 year old construction worker I suppose that I am somewhat outside the traditional demographic for these books. What I have truely enjoyed, in these books is the southern voices that have brought part of my culture to life. I have recommended these books to my co-workers on Alaska's North Slope and they have been universally well recieved. I am not sure how many of these tough guys have been rushing home to recommend them to their families but here while it was 60 below the discussions on the books were well attended.

I have no intention of seein the movie though. I believe that the authors failed to protect the integrity of their work. The changing Savanna Snow from having long blond hair to being black, having a black mayor is in conflict with the entrenched culture that is in the books. THe movie producers are changing the books. If JK Rowling's example is followed these changes will be later reflected in future books. It makes me sad to see authors corrupted by movie makers.

I am looking forward to other works by these authors as they mature.

nancy, its good to see someones like me lol Puppy eyes, i cant wait for the next book...and the movie :) ...Im on the last like 5 chapters or whatever...Really close to finishing but not wanting to jut yet... Interested in reading the ending though...especially the ending of the entire series.Scott, its crazy seeing older people being into series like this...but its nice to hear about.I also dislike movie directors and stuff changing things about the books...But to me, as long as i know what really happens and have read the books or whatever im ok with seeing movies.I try to look at the movies as something new...and pretend that it isnt from a book sereies. That way helps me respect it for what it is.

I can totally relate no one I know has read these books and I'm really into them so im on here a lot to talk to other fans and I completely agree about the cast it could never live up to expectation but I hope it will be good :)

I checked out the first book from the library in spring 2010, and read it non-stop for 2 weeks (I've read all of the sequels since then). Not a lot of people I know have read the books. Lately, I've been making Youtube videos about the upcoming movie. Opinions about it have seemed mixed; some people love the casting choices, and others hate it. For me, I just hope they (the film-makers) give the book justice, and with the changes, it will still end up being a good movie, but I can't for sure right now.

I feel the same way Kat. When I first heard about a movie, I thought "Oh no!". When I saw the cast members I was a bit dissapointed ;-(. However if authors did a great job with the books Im sure they will have alot of input in their movie. Im still going to see it, but I do wish for a better cast.

I remain convinced that in this case the authors have virtually no input in the movie making process. We have become accustomed to authors like Stephanie Meyers, and Susanne Collins, who take a large part in the writing of movie scripts and Joanne Rowling who demand oversight. In this case the casting openly displayes dramatic change in the very nature of Gatlin and the trajectory of the stories. It is not that uncommon for movie makers to really blow the opportunity to illuminate a well written literary work.

With the talent in the cast I have no doubt that it will be entertaining... It will not be the Beautiful Creatures that My friends and family have come to love. We will not be paying hard earned money (3 hours of sweat and blisters, at my adult pay scale, more hours if my sons were to pay for the tickets.) to see this travesty.

The authors sold out when they sold the movie rights without demanding editorial control. I cannot blame them really the amount of money that these two sweet women have been offered would change any of our lives. It is no wonder that they were run over by power brokers that were looking for an easy payoff. What is most sad is that the movie makers did not read the books and value the qualities that make them so very good, and that they were so shortsighted that they did not realize that what has made the Twilight and Hunger Games so popular is how faithful these movies were to the books.

I got my best friend to read the books and she kidnapped my beautiful chaos and she doesn't really like it either. But the movie choices suck butt. I think the theatres are going to be filled with angry book fans demanding refunds, just saying. If any of the directors actually got on this site and listened to the fans opinions- the people buying the tickets- they'd know that.
